Plans & Details
The project consists of constructing the third addition to The Lotus School for Excellence which was originally a church, “The First Assembly of God”. This newest addition is a two-story steel structure bearing on a structural slab on caissons. The exterior façade will match the existing school with brick veneer and stucco. Curtain walls and storefront windows provide natural light. Eight classrooms and one office including a science lab will be added. As part of the addition the existing Fire Alarm system will be upgraded with new devices and a new Fire Alarm Control Panel. A vestibule is also being added on the opposite side of the existing school, the vestibule will provide better access control for the Kindergarten area.

Safety is our top priority! JHL fully understands that your campus is an active learning environment first and foremost, not a construction jobsite. JHL will work with Jefferson Academy to plan construction activities in a manner that limits disruptions, maintains the learning environment, and keeps students, staff members, and parents safe.
On all occupied school projects, JHL utilizes Raptorware for all subcontractors on site, an access and tracking system that scans identification cards (drivers licenses, alien registration cards, green cards, and passports) and immediately conducts a background check with current information. Any person that is flagged by Raptorware will be refused entry to the site. Prior to subcontractor selection, companies are required to sign JHL’s project specific guidelines contract. A requirement of this includes drug testing and background checks for all employees who will be on campus.
Our innovative safety program begins with our safety committee and extends to each and every person who sets foot on a JHL jobsite. We realize that, especially in the construction industry, there has been a discrepancy between practice and policy with regard to on the job safety. Our approach to reconciling that discrepancy is to instill each of our employees with a personal devotion to safety and the dedication to insure that each of our jobsites remains an accident free environment. Our continued success in this endeavor is evidenced by our exceptional Experience Modification Rate average of 0.67 over the past five years and the fact that we recently received the Platinum level national Safety Training and Evaluation Process award from the Associated Builders and Contractors.
JHL’s safety record is one of the best in the industry and we are committed to keeping it that way. JHL has never once had an incident or accident with a student, staff member, or community member on any of our projects.
